8 Week Mindfulness Meditation Group
This 8 week course in Mindfulness Meditation will help you to reduce stress, manage pain and increase mind-body wellness.
About the instructors:
Dr. Angela Kurzyna has completed advanced practicum training in teaching Mindfulness through Jefferson University Hospital’s Myrna Brind Center for Mindfulness. Catherine McCrane is a registered yoga teacher and meditation teacher through the Yoga Alliance.
You will learn to:
- Be present in the moment and get out of your head and into your life
- Reduce chronic stress thereby reducing the toll that stress takes on the body
- Identify and change habitual and unhelpful ways of handling stress and relating to challenges
- Improve emotional regulation by reducing emotional reactivity
- Become kinder and more compassionate towards yourself and towards others
- Improve communication and relationships
Course Outline:
- The attitudinal foundations of Mindfulness Meditation
- Understanding the physiology of stress and the role mindfulness plays in stress reduction
- Body awareness and mindful movement
- Mindfulness of feelings and thoughts
- Using the practice of R.A.I.N.
- Loving kindness and self compassion
- Responding vs reacting using mindful communication
- Being the awareness
Participants are asked to make a commitment to attending all sessions and to practice meditation for a minimum of 20 minutes daily throughout the eight-week program.
